These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Cape Town Wine Club website, your club membership, and your purchase of wine, event tickets, and subscriptions from Cape Town Wine Club ("CTWC", "we", "us"). By using our website, signing up as a member, or making a purchase, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use our website or services.

1. Who we are

Cape Town Wine Club operates from The Clubhouse, Woodstock Exchange, 66 Albert Road, Woodstock, Cape Town, South Africa.

2. Age restriction

Our website, club, events, and products are intended only for persons aged 18 years or older. It is illegal in South Africa to sell or supply alcohol to anyone under 18.

By signing up as a member, purchasing wine, buying an event ticket, or subscribing to any CTWC offering, you confirm that you are 18 years or older. We reserve the right to request proof of age at any time — including at our venue, at events, and on delivery — and to refuse sale or entry where proof of age cannot be provided.

3. Membership

3.1 Club membership is free unless otherwise stated at the time of signup. Paid membership tiers, if introduced, will have their pricing and benefits clearly communicated before you commit.
3.2 Membership is personal to you and may not be transferred or shared.
3.3 Membership benefits (such as event access, discounts, or community access) may change over time. We will communicate material changes to members by email.
3.4 You may cancel your membership at any time by emailing us or unsubscribing from our communications.
3.5 We reserve the right to suspend or terminate a membership where a member behaves abusively toward staff, other members, or guests; disrupts events; or breaches these Terms.

4. Events and tickets

4.1 Tickets for CTWC events are sold through our ticketing partner (currently Quicket) or directly at The Clubhouse. The ticketing partner's own terms also apply to purchases made through their platform.
4.2 Ticket prices, inclusions, and event details are as described on the event listing at the time of purchase.
4.3 Refunds and cancellations by you: Unless stated otherwise on the event listing, tickets are non-refundable if you cancel or fail to attend. Where possible, we may at our discretion allow you to transfer your ticket to another person (aged 18 or older) — contact us before the event to arrange this.
4.4 Cancellations by us: If we cancel or materially change an event, you will be offered a full refund of the ticket price or a transfer to another event.
4.5 Wine tastings involve the consumption of alcohol. You attend at your own discretion and are responsible for your own transport arrangements. Please do not drink and drive.
4.6 We reserve the right to refuse entry to, or remove from an event, any person who is visibly intoxicated, underage, or behaving in a manner that compromises the safety or enjoyment of others. No refund will be given in these circumstances.

5. Wine sales

5.1 All wine sold by CTWC — at The Clubhouse, at events, or online — is subject to the age restriction in section 2.
5.2 Prices are quoted in South African Rand and include VAT unless stated otherwise. Prices may change without notice, but changes will not affect orders already placed and paid for.
5.3 Product images and descriptions are provided in good faith. Vintages, labels, and availability may vary; where a specific vintage is unavailable, we will contact you before substituting.
5.4 In-person purchases: Wine purchased at The Clubhouse is checked at the point of sale. Please inspect your purchase before leaving.
5.5 Returns: In accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (CPA), you may return wine that is defective or corked within a reasonable period, and we will replace it or refund you. We cannot accept returns of wine simply because you did not enjoy it — taste is part of the adventure.

6. Deliveries and online orders

6.1 Where we offer delivery, orders will be delivered to the address you provide. You are responsible for ensuring the address is correct.
6.2 Deliveries containing alcohol may only be received by a person aged 18 or older. Our courier may request proof of age. If no person aged 18 or older is available to receive the delivery, it may be returned, and a redelivery fee may apply.
6.3 Delivery timeframes are estimates and not guaranteed. We will keep you informed of any material delays.
6.4 Risk in the goods passes to you on delivery. Please check your order on receipt and report any damage or shortage within 48 hours.

7. Subscriptions

This section applies to any recurring wine subscription offered by CTWC (such as a monthly curated wine box).
7.1 Subscription pricing, contents, and billing frequency are as described at the time you subscribe.
7.2 Subscriptions renew automatically each billing cycle until cancelled. Payment is collected through our payment provider (currently PayFast).
7.3 Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect from the next billing cycle — amounts already billed for the current cycle are not refundable, and you will receive that cycle's delivery.
7.4 Pausing: Where a pause option is offered, you may pause your subscription according to the terms shown in your account or communicated by email.
7.5 We may adjust subscription pricing or contents with reasonable notice. If you do not accept a change, you may cancel before it takes effect.
7.6 Wine selections in subscription boxes are curated by CTWC and may not be substituted on request, unless a substitution option is expressly offered.

8. Payments

8.1 Payments are processed by third-party payment providers — currently Yoco (in-person), PayFast (online and subscriptions), and Quicket (event tickets). We do not store your card details.
8.2 An order or booking is only confirmed once payment has been successfully processed.
8.3 If a payment fails or is reversed, we may suspend the related order, ticket, or subscription until payment is resolved.

9. WhatsApp community and communications

9.1 Joining the CTWC WhatsApp community is optional and subject to your consent, as set out in our Privacy Policy.
9.2 The community is a space for club news and wine conversation. We reserve the right to remove any member who posts spam, offensive content, or unrelated promotional material.
9.3 Marketing emails are sent only to members who have opted in, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.

10. Website use and intellectual property

10.1 All content on this website — including text, illustrations, photography, logos, and branding — is the property of Cape Town Wine Club or its licensors and is protected by copyright. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use it for commercial purposes without our written permission.
10.2 You may not use this website in any way that is unlawful, that damages or disrupts the website, or that attempts to gain unauthorised access to our systems.
10.3 We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the website at any time.

11. Responsible drinking

CTWC promotes the responsible enjoyment of wine. Alcohol is not for sale to persons under the age of 18. Drink responsibly. Don't drink and drive.
12. Liability
12.1 Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, or any other law that cannot be excluded by agreement.
12.2 Subject to 12.1, CTWC will not be liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the website, attendance at events, or purchase of products, except where such loss is caused by our gross negligence.
12.3 You are responsible for your own decisions regarding alcohol consumption, including your fitness to drive or operate machinery.

13. General

13.1 These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
13.2 If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force.
13.3 We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page with the "last updated" date shown at the top. Continued use of the website or services after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
